Carnival Rewards is live, and casino play now feeds status too

Just saw that Carnival officially launched its new Carnival Rewards program on September 1, replacing VIFP. The part that jumped out at me for this crowd: casino play now ties into the program too. From what Cruise Industry News and Travel Weekly reported, members earn one point for each casino point left at the end of a sailing and one status star for each casino point earned. My fine-print brain says this is one worth watching closely, because “earn” is not the same as “redeem,” and status stars are a separate bucket from rewards points. Also, offers and comps are still their own animal and can move on a different track. Anybody here already sailed under the new setup and seen how it looks in practice? I’m especially curious whether regular Carnival casino players think this will feel meaningfully better than the old system, or just more complicated.

I haven’t sailed under it yet, but I’m reading that same fine print the way you are. The bit I’d tell folks to watch is timing and how things actually post after the cruise, because that’s where these programs can get muddy fast. Gene and I learned long ago to keep our own notes on casino points and offers instead of assuming the account will explain itself later. I do like that casino play is at least being recognized in the loyalty program now, but I’m with you, that doesn’t automatically mean it’ll feel richer. If anyone has screenshots of how the stars and points showed up, I’d love to see it.

What I’m wondering is whether this changes behavior more for casual players than for the usual casino crowd. If someone was already sailing on offers, folding casino points into loyalty may not move the needle much. But for people who split time between slots/tables and the rest of the ship, seeing stars tied to play might make the program feel more visible, even if offers still live on their own track. I’d also like to know how tables are being reflected compared with slots once everything posts. Anyone here done a post-September Carnival run and compared folio/casino printouts to the Rewards account after?

My read is this probably helps visibility more than value, at least until we see a few real post-cruise data points. The line that matters to me is “casino point left at end of sailing” for rewards points. If that literally means leftover/unredeemed points, then two players with identical play could end up with different rewards totals based only on whether they burned points onboard. That’s a weird setup. I’m also curious if table players get a clean audit trail or just a blob number later. Anybody back from a September sailing with both the casino statement and the Rewards posting?
