Carnival Rewards just went live. How do y’all feel about the casino piece?

Looks like Carnival’s new Carnival Rewards program officially launched on September 1. I was reading about it in Cruise Industry News and The Points Guy, and the part that jumped out at me was how casino play now ties into the bigger loyalty setup instead of living off to the side. From what I read, folks can earn rewards points and status stars through onboard spending, and casino activity is part of that mix too. As a Carnival guy out of New Orleans, I figure this is the kind of change a lot of us will actually notice over a few sailings, especially if you split time between the tables, slots, and the rest of the ship like Denise and I usually do. I’m curious whether y’all see this as a real plus, or just a different way of keeping score. Anybody already sailed under the new setup yet and have first impressions?

I’m pretty interested in it, mostly because I’ve always thought casino play felt a little siloed from the rest of the trip. If this makes it easier to see everything in one place, that’s a win for me. I do wonder how cleanly they’ll explain the casino side though, especially for people who bounce between slots, tables, drinks, and specialty dining. Sometimes these programs sound simple until you try to track what counted. If anybody’s sailed it already, I’d love to hear whether the app/account view is actually useful or if it just creates more mystery around the casino piece.

My first reaction: good for visibility, maybe murkier for valuation. When casino gets folded into a broader rewards bucket, I start asking two boring spreadsheet questions: What earns points vs what earns status? Are table ratings translating in a way normal humans can verify? Slots are usually easy enough to back into. Tables, not so much. If Carnival shows both in-app with decent lag times, that’s progress. What I’d watch over 2-3 sailings is whether your old casino offer pattern changes at all, or if this is mostly a front-end accounting makeover. Anybody seen actual point earn rates posted for blackjack yet?

I’m reserving judgment until we see the terms spelled out in one place. The thing I’d tell people is not to assume “rewards points,” “status stars,” and casino offers are interchangeable currencies. Usually they’re not, and that’s where folks get disappointed later. I’d also check the fine print on posting delays, excluded charges, and whether table play is still host-rated rather than formula-based for the member to see. If anyone has sailed since Sept. 1, did your folio/app show casino-related earnings daily, or only after the cruise closed out?
