Carnival Rewards just launched and casino play is part of it

Just saw a genuinely big one for casino cruisers: Carnival officially launched Carnival Rewards on September 1, and casino play is now part of how the new program works. I read the announcement in Carnival’s own help pages and a same-day news write-up covering the rollout. The part that jumped out at me was that casino points can translate into program credit, which is going to get a lot of us watching our folios and point totals a little more closely. Not saying this means anything is automatic, because casino offers and comps are always their call, but it definitely feels like a change this crowd will care about. Curious how everyone here reads this. If you sail Carnival, do you think this makes your onboard play easier to track, or just more complicated? And for the multi-line folks, does this make Carnival more interesting for your next casino cruise?

I’m interested mostly from the tracking angle. Gene and I always found Carnival’s casino side a little foggy compared with just watching your folio for the regular cruise charges. If this gives folks one place to see activity a bit better, that’s useful. If it turns into another points language to decode, maybe not so much. What I’ll be watching is whether table play and slots/video poker seem to post in a way regular people can actually follow onboard or after the trip. Has anyone here sailed since Sept. 1 and seen how clear it is in real life?

I haven’t sailed since the switch, but I’m real curious how clean the table side shows up. Slots usually leave a breadcrumb trail if you poke around enough. Table play can feel more like trying to remember how many beignets you ate in the Quarter after midnight. If Carnival puts both the cruise spend and casino activity where folks can actually see it without needing a decoder ring, that’s a plus in my book. Denise likes simple. I like simple too, even if I pretend otherwise. Anybody back from a September sailing able to say whether the app/site showed anything useful after the trip?

In real life, tables are usually where the shoelaces come untied. Slots spit out numbers all day long. Craps? That still depends on somebody rating a living, breathing human in a noisy pit. What I’d want to know is not just whether points show up, but how fast they show up and whether there’s any plain-English breakdown afterward. Old comp programs used to run on mystery and cigarette smoke. A little daylight would be nice. If anyone’s back from a post-Sept. 1 sailing, did your table ratings look even remotely like what you expected?
