Carnival Rewards has me wondering how casino play will fit in long term

I was reading Cruise Industry News this week and one item that caught my eye was Carnival rolling out its new Carnival Rewards milestone setup around days sailed rather than just number of cruises. It is not casino news by itself, but for those of us who sail and play, I think it could matter because it may change how some people value shorter runs versus longer itineraries. My first take is that this probably makes balcony-time cruisers and longer Alaska or Panama Canal sailings look a little better from a loyalty standpoint than the old count-the-cruises mindset. Separate from casino offers, of course, but still part of the overall value picture when you choose where to play and how often to sail. What do you all think?
