Glad this is framed around real experiences instead of promises. The casino side can vary a lot by line, sailing, and even itinerary, so trip reports are usually more useful to me than broad claims. I’m especially interested in how sea days vs port-heavy runs change the feel of the casino, and whether people value the overall ship and route as much as the offers. Curious how others balance it: do you pick the itinerary first and treat the casino as a bonus, or the other way around?

I’m itinerary first most of the time, casino second. If I’m not excited to watch sailaway and catch a sunset from the outer deck, the offer alone won’t do it for me. That said, sea days definitely change the vibe. On port-heavy runs I’ve seen the casino feel more like a late-night hangout, but on sea days it turns into a real social scene, especially around the casino bar and any slot tournament. I also think ship layout matters more than people expect. An open casino near live music keeps me around longer than a tucked-away room. Anyone else have a favorite casino setup by line?

I’ve wound up doing it both ways over the years, but these days I lean ship first, then casino feel, then itinerary. Not because the ports don’t matter, just because a bad casino layout can make a long sailing feel even longer. Back in the 90s some of those rooms were basically smoky closets with chips. Now I pay attention to traffic flow: can you sit at a table without feeling like you’re in the hallway? On Celebrity, I like when the casino feels connected to the evening instead of hidden off like a punishment. Craps players especially notice that. Anybody else judge a room by whether spectators can actually gather without blocking everything?
